On the 23rd and 24th of August 2003, Dalian Maritime University (DMU)hosted the first International Maritime University Presidents' Forum (IMUPF) in Dalian. The University of Antwerp and ITMMA warmly welcome the initiative of professor Wu Zhaolin, President of DMU, to bring together leaders of leading maritime universities around the world and as such to enhance mutual exchanges on education and research. Prof. Dr. Theo Notteboom, Associate Professor at ITMMA represented ITMMA at the IMUPF. He addressed the delegates on the topic 'Challenges facing maritime education and research in a changing environment'.
