Libertas-Humanitas is a private foundation of veterans of the Second World War that was constituted in 1967. Among the patrons were General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Field Marshal Lord Montgomery.

As members of the Belgian resistance groups and prisoners, the founders had seen many of their comrades lose their life in action or in concentration camps. To commemorate these sacrifices, the founders decided to promote university studies in Antwerp for students from countries whose armed forces participated in the liberation of Belgium. That's one of the reasons this foundation grants an award of 2,500 Euro to an American, a British, Canadian, French or Polish ITMMA student who has obtained very good results (i.e. at least 'cum laude' or 'distinction') for the MTMM or MTME programme. A committee of representatives of both ITMMA and the Libertas-Humanitas Foundation will decide on the award.
