Techniques of International Trade and Transport
The aim of this course is to analyse various techniques, procedures and documents related to international trade transactions and the international transportation of goods, particularly using maritime or multimodal transportation. Special attention is given to the practical aspects of these operations. The course covers the laws and regulations applied to international sales contracts and to the parties involved, the use of Incoterms, the role and responsibilities of the freight forwarder, the importance of cargo insurance, customs procedures, the modes of payment and the use of documentary credits. A special session is devoted to case studies in order to enhance the problem-solving capabilities of the students (price calculation, choice of Incoterms, the flow of documents), and to trade facilitation, using standardized documents.
